Military veteran Austin Winningham brings a background in law enforcement to his position as a Commissioned School Security Officer with Springdale Public Schools.
He serves at Jim D. Rollins School of Innovation and Knapp Elementary School.
"When I heard Springdale Public Schools was starting a CSSO program, I knew it was a program I wanted to be involved in," Winningham said. "I hope to bring a sense of safety and security to students, teachers and parents."
Winningham, 26, lives in Farmington but considers Fayetteville home.
He has been married to Briana Winningham for four years. The couple have three children, Cooper, 10, Levi, 6, and Bailer, 3.
Winningham can likely be found in the outdoors in his free time.
"I enjoy spending time hunting and going to the lake with my family," he said.
Winningham hopes to bring a sense of safety and security to students, teachers and parents as a CSSO.
"I always enjoy serving Northwest Arkansas in different aspects, and I knew working as a CSSO would be a great opportunity to serve the citizens of Springdale," he said. "I look forward to further building relationships with the community."
He said his past military and law enforcement training will benefit the schools he serves.
"I have had the opportunity to receive training and real-world experiences, including special response team tactics and protective services," Winningham said. "I can supply the knowledge I have gained from my training and experiences to the program, as well as provide exceptional service to the protection of Springdale Public Schools."
